Interpretation	Gastric Parietal Cell Antibodies Positive in 90% of patients with pernicious anaemia. Other disorders that may be associated with GPC antibodies are atrophic gastritis (up to 60%), autoimmune thyroid diseases (33%), diabetes mellitus (12%), and rarely iron deficiency anaemia. Although detected in less than 2% of the normal population under 20, the incidence of GPC antibodies increases in women over the age of 40 and may be present in up to 16% of the normal population over 60 years of age.
