Roche Elecsys assay of insulin in raw and PEG extracted plasma.

Diagnostic Use / Indications

This test is intended to be used to detect antibodies to insulin that are present in sufficient quantity to possibly affect diabetes control.

It is not intended for the detection of insulin autoantibodies (IAA).

Paediatric SpecimenBlood 0.8 mL EDTA or Plain (must get 0.4 mL plasma or serum)

Given with result (depends on free insulin concentration).

Interpretation

Detects insulin antibodies that have a binding capacity similar to or greater than endogenous insulin levels. Cannot detect or rule out IAA (insulin autoantibodies) as these, if present, are usually at much lower concentrations.
